Reading skill: Shall we eat this?

Hi students!

I am Dominica Mauri and here I present you an activity that will help you develop your reading skills at home! You have been doing reading comprehensions for many years. But did you ever consider how important it is to be able to understand a text? Did you ever have to work with an authentic text from the Internet? Now it is time to go one step further and reinforce your reading comprehension with this WebQuest. All you have to do is to read the steps carefully, following the established sequence and complete the tasks described.

By carrying out this task you will attain the following learning objectives:

a) Discover how important it is to be able to understand texts.
b) Be able to work with an authentic text.
c) Gain the abilities to answer to multiple choice and true/ false activities.
d) Adopt the habit to consult dictionaries for learning new vocabulary.

e) Learn to work individually and autonomously.
f) Discover the functioning of educational tools (Popplet).
g) Reflect on what has been learnt.
h) Be able to learn collaboratively (Popplet).

The technological tools involved in this project are the following:

a) WebQuest: tool that drives to self-sufficiency of students, by means of the presentation of a guided task which is organized in different consecutive sections. It may enclose different Internet tools.

b) Popplet: it is a type of mind map. You and the people you invite can write your ideas in a white screen. Ideas can be easily linked together and complemented with Internet webpages, images and other types of files.

c) Survey Monkey: tool for creating online surveys.

Here is the link to the WebQuest, I hope you find it useful:
