Hello, everybody!
My name is Eva de la Fuente and I have created a wikispace. The purpose of this wikispace is to work the language in use skill on the topic of food. This activity is designed to make students work not only individually but also in pairs and in groups. This wikispace is divided into three steps:
1)First of all, there is a very brief introduction of the topic.
2) Afterwards, in the first step, the students are asked to work in pairs to practise some food vocabulary as well as the present simple of verb like. The activity consists of asking questions to each other and writing down the answers they get from their partners. Besides, I have also uploaded a youtube video to refresh some food vocabulary.
3) Then, in the second step, the students are asked to use some expressions on food. They have to share their likes and dislikes on food by using the expressions showed in this step. This activity must be done individually.
4) Finally, in the third step, the students have a brief explanation about countable and uncountable nouns. In groups of 4-5 people, they have to work on the worksheet uploaded. The activity created is about writing down which nouns are countable and which are uncountable.
Therefore, the learning goals of this wikispace are:
- Learn food vocabulary.
- Learn countable and uncountable nouns (brief introduction).
- Use and practise affirmative, negative and question forms of the verb like (present simple).
- Be able to use and practise some expressions about food.
- Be able to share likes and dislikes about food.
- Be able to work in pairs and in groups.
As stated before, wikispace is the technological tool that I have used to develop my activities. It is a very engaging tool as students learn English in a much more entertaining way. Its main advantage is that it boosts collaborative learning and independence on students.
